Technician Guide

Technician Guide

This guide is for technicians who use TradeKitt to view commissions, accept dispatch jobs, track time, and manage expenses.

Logging In

You’ll receive login credentials from your admin. Sign in at app.tradekitt.com or through the TradeKitt mobile app. Single sign-on (SSO) via Google, Apple, or Microsoft may be available depending on your organization’s plan.

Dashboard Overview

After logging in, your dashboard shows:

  • Today’s schedule — upcoming dispatch jobs assigned to you
  • Commission summary — earnings for the current pay period
  • Recent sales — your most recently recorded sales and their status (pending approval, approved, or rejected)
  • Performance scorecard — your completion rate, average job duration, customer rating, and revenue per job

Viewing and Accepting Dispatch Jobs

Job List

Navigate to My Jobs to see all dispatch jobs assigned to you. Each job shows:

  • Customer name, address, and contact information
  • Job type and description
  • Priority level (low, normal, high, urgent)
  • Scheduled date and time block
  • Required skills
  • SLA deadlines (response time and resolution time)

Job Workflow

Each job moves through these statuses:

  1. Assigned — the job has been assigned to you
  2. En route — you’ve accepted the job and are traveling to the site
  3. In progress — you’ve arrived and started work
  4. Completed — the job is finished

Update the job status from the job detail screen or the mobile app. Status changes are logged and visible to dispatchers in real time.

Required Forms

Some job types require you to complete forms before marking the job as complete. These might include work orders, inspection checklists, or customer sign-off forms. Required forms appear on the job detail screen. Fill them out with text, numbers, selections, photos, or digital signatures as needed.

Time Tracking

Clocking In and Out

Use the Time Tracking section or the mobile app to clock in and out of your shifts:

  1. Tap Clock In when you start working. If GPS is enabled, your location is recorded.
  2. Tap Clock Out when you finish. Your total hours are calculated automatically.
  3. Record break time in minutes if applicable.

Your duration is calculated as: clock-out time minus clock-in time, minus break minutes.

Viewing Time Entries

All your time entries are listed under Time Tracking > History. Each entry shows the date, clock-in and clock-out times, break duration, total hours, and approval status. Your admin may review and adjust time entries as needed.

Submitting Expenses

Creating an Expense

Navigate to Expenses > New Expense to submit a reimbursement request:

  1. Select an expense category (fuel, materials, tools, meals, etc.)
  2. Enter the amount and date
  3. Add a description
  4. Attach a receipt photo if required by the category

Expense Workflow

Submitted expenses follow this workflow:

  1. Pending — waiting for admin review
  2. Approved — admin has approved the expense
  3. Rejected — admin has rejected the expense (a reason is provided)
  4. Reimbursed — payment has been processed

View your expense history and status under Expenses > History.

Viewing Commission Statements

Current Period

Your dashboard shows a summary of commissions earned in the current pay period. For a detailed breakdown, go to Commissions > Current Period to see:

  • Each sale you recorded
  • The line items on each sale
  • The commission rate applied (snapshot from time of sale)
  • The calculated commission amount
  • Any adjustments (bonuses, corrections, or chargebacks)

Historical Periods

View past pay periods under Commissions > History. Closed pay periods show your total commission for that period along with a full breakdown of every sale.

Commission Adjustments

Your admin may apply manual adjustments that appear on your commission statement:

  • Bonuses (positive adjustments) for outstanding performance
  • Corrections for calculation fixes
  • Chargebacks (negative adjustments) for reversed payments

Mobile App Usage

Installation

Download the TradeKitt app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Log in with the same credentials you use on the web.

Key Features

The mobile app provides quick access to everything you need in the field:

  • Dispatch jobs — view assigned jobs, update status, get directions
  • Clock in/out — track time with GPS location capture
  • Record sales — enter sales directly from a job site
  • Expenses — snap a receipt photo and submit reimbursement requests
  • Commission dashboard — check your current earnings
  • Forms — fill out required job forms with photo and signature capture
  • Notifications — receive alerts for new job assignments, schedule changes, and commission updates

GPS and Location

When GPS is enabled, the mobile app records your location at clock-in and clock-out, and provides live location updates to dispatchers. This helps with route optimization and proof of arrival.

Offline Mode

The mobile app works even without an internet connection. When offline:

  • Your dashboard and recent data are available from the local cache
  • You can record sales, which are queued locally with idempotency keys
  • Time tracking continues to work
  • Forms can be filled out and saved locally

When connectivity is restored, all queued data syncs automatically. Your admin controls which features are available offline through the offline configuration settings.

Tips for Success

  • Update job status promptly — dispatchers and managers rely on real-time status to coordinate the team
  • Clock in and out consistently — accurate time tracking ensures correct labor cost calculations for job costing
  • Attach receipts to expenses — expenses with receipts are approved faster
  • Check your dashboard daily — stay on top of your schedule, commissions, and performance scorecard
  • Keep the mobile app updated — updates include bug fixes and new features
